Learn techniques for goldwork embroidery, beading, and applying sequins and make a small embroidered applique. Using 100% metal threads, beads, sequins and crystals. Mary Brown is one of the world’s highly regarded goldwork tutors, author of the book Goldwork Embroidery and for many years tutored fashion students at the University of Technology in Sydney.
Skill level: Beginner
Materials provided will include: Calico, metal threads, beads, sequins, sewing thread, crystals, beading needle.
Students bring: 15cm – 20cm hoop with a slot screw to tighten the frame which should be approximately 2.5cm in depth, golden yellow sewing thread, small sharp scissors, size 10 crewel needles, large chenille or tapestry needle (purely used to support sewing threads). Small weight or small clamp to attach the frame to the table – you will cantilever the frame over the table and be hands-free.
